{"id":425,"date":"2017-09-15T20:38:19","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T19:38:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmillennia.creativespark.co.uk\/looking-ahead-to-party-conference-season\/"},"modified":"2021-05-12T16:26:08","modified_gmt":"2021-05-12T15:26:08","slug":"looking-ahead-to-party-conference-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newmillennia.co.uk\/blog\/looking-ahead-to-party-conference-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking ahead to party conference season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just when you thought you couldn\u2019t take any more politics, the conference season is upon us!<\/p>\n<p>The Lib Dems are kicking things off in Bournemouth on Sunday, followed by Labour in Brighton, the Conservatives in Manchester and the SNP drawing the conference season to a close in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>The REC policy team will be in amongst it at all these events, taking stock of any new policy announcements, driving our industry\u2019s messages on jobs, skills, immigration and other hot topics and providing regular updates from the conference floor.<\/p>\n<p>Party conferences are a great platform for us to build links with ministers, policy makers, employers, think tanks, journalists and representative organisations. Our underlying aim is to use these discussions to promote the positive contribution of recruiters to the UK economy and labour market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting the best deal for jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will also be speaking at a number of fringe events which will provide further opportunities to spread the word.<\/p>\n<p>We will be joining the TUC panel at Labour\u2019s conference to discuss the \u2018Great Jobs Agenda\u2019 alongside Shadow Business Secretary Rebecca Long-Bailey MP and Frances O\u2019Grady, General Secretary of the TUC.\u00a0This will be an opportunity to highlight our work on the Good Recruitment Campaign and some of the preliminary findings of our Future of jobs commission.<\/p>\n<p>At the Conservative\u2019s conference we will co-host a business reception alongside the Chancellor, Philip Hammond. We will also be holding an event with think tank Bright Blue, \u201cGetting the best deal for jobs: the future relationship of the UK with the EU\u201d, which will include a number of prominent speakers.\u00a0This will be a great platform to showcase our new report on immigration, which will be published just ahead of the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jobs, skills, industrial strategy and more<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Political conference season provides space for political parties to make announcements which outline their vision for the country. Following the results of the election this year we expect leaders to take this opportunity to define their future plans.\u00a0Jobs, skills, industrial strategy, inclusion, public sector resourcing and apprenticeships are just some of the key areas on the agenda that we will be looking to feed into.<\/p>\n<p>If you are going to any of the conferences do get in touch for more details of our events \u2013 it would be great to have recruiters in the audience raising our concerns and ideas from the conference floor.<\/p>\n<p>To receive regular dispatches from the party conference scene, follow us on twitter @HadleysComment and @RECPress.
